Improving Care and Outcomes in Aged Care

The Registry of Senior Australians (ROSA)
Project Status: In progress
Project administered by: SAHMRI

The ROSA Research Centre is collaborating with seven project partners to investigate how the workforce impacts care quality in aged care.

In brief, the project aims to investigate the impact on workforce on older people's care quality and health outcomes based on three main aims:

  1. To identify aged care components such as care minutes, to improve quality and safety of care.
  2. To identify national unwarranted variation in care within subgroups with established health disparities.
  3. To examine the real-time impact of workforce related aged care reforms in care quality.

These aims and associated research questions will be examined by using part of this grant support to facilitate the integration of three additional national datasets in the ROSA's Historic National Cohort, including: The Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care Star Ratings for Residential Aged Care, the National Aged Care Mandatory Quality Indicator Program and StewartBrown's Aged Care Financial Performance Survey data collection.

The Australian Ageing Agenda is ROSA's communication partner for this important project. Click here to view their article summarising the project and its aims.
